Ivans to Read at Poetry on the Loose - June 4th, 4 PM

marciaivansMarcia Ivans will read her work at the next program in the Poetry on the Loose Reading/Performance Series. The event will be held in the rear room behind the Utopian Directions gallery and bookstore at 7 West Street in Warwick at 4:00 p.m. on June 4.   Following the feature, others are welcome to read original work. Admission is free.

Over Easy is Marcia Ivans’ second collection of poems. She began writing over twenty-five years ago, as she embarked on the journey to the joyous place her life is today. She self-published her first book of poems, Yesterday: A Collection of Thoughts, in 1981. As her writing gathered momentum, she found herself sharing both her written works and the healing process of creating them.

Her poems have appeared in Goldfinch , Poetry Ink,   Compassionate Friends and various newspapers and anthologies, and she was a Guest Reader at the William Paterson University – William Talerico Poetry Contest Awards Night in 2005 and 2007. She is a member of Women Who Write, Inc., of Morris County, and has served on its governing board for three years. She hosts “Poetry and Pastries,” a bimonthly open poetry reading at the Café Beethoven in Chatham, which she launched in 2004. Ivans continues to encourage others to write, and to heal themselves by writing.

Robert Milby will host this month.

The next Poetry on the Loose reading to feature Michael Platsky will be held July 2.
